Widely Labs

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Widely Labs handles information when you use the Widely mobile application, website, and related support services.

Last updated: September 4, 2026

1. Information we handle

Account and identity information

When you create or access an account, we may process your email address, display name, account identifier, sign-in provider, and authentication records. Sign-in may be provided through Google or Apple.

Business-card and contact information

Widely lets you capture and organize information from business cards. Depending on what you save, this may include names, companies, departments, job titles, phone and fax numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, memos, card images, and related identifiers or timestamps. Business-card images and extracted text may be transmitted to our cloud and AI service providers for text recognition, information extraction, and content classification.

Device, diagnostics, and usage information

We may receive device and app information, crash logs, performance data, push-notification tokens, advertising identifiers, and analytics events. Some analytics events may be associated with device or account identifiers.

Permissions and optional features

With your permission, Widely may access the camera or photo library to capture cards, send push notifications, and use optional contact-sync or caller-identification features available on supported devices. You can manage permissions in your device settings.

2. How we use information

  • Provide authentication, business-card scanning, optical character recognition, AI-assisted contact-field extraction and classification, contact organization, search, sync, and support.
  • Store and retrieve the records and images you choose to save.
  • Maintain app reliability, diagnose crashes, measure performance, prevent abuse, and improve features.
  • Deliver service messages and push notifications you have enabled.
  • Display and measure advertising where the app uses Google Mobile Ads or AdMob.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect users, Widely Labs, and the public.

3. Services that process information

Widely uses Google Cloud services to provide, maintain, and manage the service, and may also use OpenAI for AI-assisted information management. Widely uses Google AdMob to provide and measure advertising, Google Sign-In, and Sign in with Apple. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.

4. Advertising and analytics

Google AdMob may process device and app information, advertising identifiers, IP addresses, approximate location, and advertising interaction data to provide, measure, limit, and protect advertising. Where required in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Widely requests consent through a consent management platform before serving personalized advertising. If consent is not provided, non-personalized or limited ads may still be displayed, and certain information may still be processed for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. Where available, users can review or change their choices through the privacy options provided in the app.

5. When information may be shared

We may share information with service providers that operate the app, when you direct us to share it, when required by law or a valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety. We do not describe these operational disclosures as a sale of your business-card contacts.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet legal or accounting requirements, resolve disputes, protect the service, and maintain legitimate business records. Retention periods vary by data type and system. Information transmitted to service providers is retained according to the service settings selected by Widely and the providers' applicable data-processing terms.

To request deletion of personal information associated with your account, email [email protected].

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International processing

Widely and its service providers may store or process information in the United States, Singapore, and other countries in which the relevant providers or their subprocessors operate. Data-protection rules may differ across those locations. Where required, international transfers are protected through adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or other legally recognized safeguards.

9. Your choices and rights

You can manage device permissions, notification settings, advertising consent, and some account information through the app or operating-system settings. Where the app provides a Privacy Options control, you may use it to review, change, or withdraw your advertising consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before the withdrawal. Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal information. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy and update the date shown above. Where required, we will provide additional notice.
